Daniel Guéguen
Biography of Daniel Guéguen
Speaker, commenter and author about the European Union
Daniel Guéguen is an expert in European Affairs since 1975. As both an active player in European Affairs (having been the Director of important EU associations as well as of CLAN Public Affairs Group today) and, at the same time, a media expert, being an editorial writer, an author, a publisher and a conference speaker, Daniel Guéguen is in a unique and distinctive position.
During his 35-year career, Daniel Guéguen has developed a significant network in Brussels, as well as a high level of political and financial knowledge. Due to his long and divers career in the European Union where he held many positions, Daniel Guéguen is able to deliver lectures on European Union strategies and how the European Union works from complex in-depth issues to general procedures. Daniel Guéguen isn’t afraid to describe complex European Union issues clear and to the point, which makes his lectures and conferences clear for both people with not much knowledge about the European Union as people who are close to the policies.
Daniel Guéguen has wrote many books about the European Union, among others a 'Practical Guide to the EU Labyrinth' and 'European Lobbying' which has been translated in 20 foreign languages.

Title:European lobbyingAuthor:Daniel GuéguenPublisher:Europolitics BrusselsBook:Paperback 140 pagesISBN:978-09-556-2024-9Daniel Gueguen brings more than 30 years of experience, in business and as a lecturer and consultant, to this practical guide to lobbying at the EU level, now in its 3rd edition. The book is aimed at those working in business, NGOs and pressure groups, as well as those in the EU institutions who are themselves lobbied. It looks first at European lobbying structures — the panorama of lobbying in Brussels — trade associations and NGOs at the EU level, and representation of individual companies — and how they work together. It then considers the technical tools of lobbying — including business intelligence, networks, communication and using the press. Finally it provides an analysis of European lobbying strategies — impact assessment, 'top down' and 'bottom up' approaches, negative, defensive, reactive and proactive strategies, coalitions, business platforms and future developments. The text is enriched with many examples of both successful and unsuccessful lobbying in Brussels.
